Ram Shankar is the Chief Information Officer and Chief Privacy Officer at Compass Community Health. He has over 20 years of experience in the Community Health not-for-profit sector and over 5-years of experience in the manufacturing sector.
As the Chief Information Officer, he manages a team of 22 multidisciplinary direct reports. He has coordinated 20 partnership agreements with external organizations providing strategic direction towards information technology and information management. Providing Integrated Information Systems back-office support at 61 different locations within the Ontario West area. He oversees the Information Systems which provides Technical Support, Decision Support, Electronic Medical Records Support, Helpdesk Support, and Administrative Support. As a member of the Senior Leadership Team for the past 20 years, Ram has served as a resource to Compass Community Health Board of Directors, Alliance for Healthier Communities, Greater Hamilton Health Network – Digital Health Secretariat, Healthier Communities Information Management Committee, and is the Chair of the Operations Committee. Currently, Ram is a reviewer for the Canadian Center for Accreditation.
As the Chief Privacy Officer, Ram oversees the monitoring and reporting on the privacy compliance program in accordance with legislation and best practices. He has been instrumental in the development of the organization’s privacy policies and practices. He sits on the Hamilton Niagara Halton Brant Integration Network’s Privacy Steering Committee.
Ram has a Bachelor’s of Computer Science Degree from the National Institute of Business Management. He obtained a Masters Degree in Project Management and a Masters Degree in Lean Six Sigma Black Belt from the Schulich School of Business at York University. Ram also holds full professional member licenses from the British Computer Society, the Australian Computer Society, and the Institution of Analysts & Programmers in the United Kingdom.
